The Anambra State Police Command foiled a kidnap attempt in Neni, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state and rescued three victims, including a married couple.
This was discloed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement released on Sunday in Awka.
Ikenga explained that police officers responded to an emergency call near Okacha Junction in Neni at around 8:45 pm on Saturday.
“Thanks to their fast action, they were able to prevent the kidnapping and free the three individuals. The police also found one of the victims car at the scene.
“Their prompt action successfully thwarted the kidnap attempt and led to the rescue of three victims.

“The operatives also recovered one of the victims’ vehicles at the scene,” he said.
To assist with the ongoing operation to arrest the fleeing kidnappers, who were armed with advanced weapons, a joint security force has been formed.
The team includes military personnel, members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilantes.
The police are also looking for a black Lexus vehicle that was taken from one of the victims and used by the kidnappers to flee the crime scene.
The state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has encouraged residents to stay alert, obey the law, and work together with security forces to help maintain peace and safety in the community.
