The Rivers State Police Command has rejected claims that Fulani herdsmen tried to attack certain areas in the state but were stopped by Ijaw youths.
A video circulated on social media on Tuesday, November 25, suggesting that herdsmen had attempted to assault a community in the state, but local youths successfully repelled the attack.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, described these claims as “completely false, misleading, and intended to incite public fear.”
She said that there have been no incidents or reports of attacks by Fulani herdsmen anywhere in Rivers State.
“This fabricated story is a deliberate effort by troublemakers to disrupt the peace and stability in the state.
“We urge the public to ignore this misinformation and to be cautious about sharing unverified information that could create unnecessary tension or harm the state’s reputation.

The statement added that strong security measures are in place, including operational patrol teams, surveillance units, and tactical squads.
It said the police command is dedicated to transparent and accountable policing.
“The public is advised to remain calm, be vigilant, and always verify information through official channels before sharing”, the statement advised.
