The Gombe State Police Command has dismantled a suspected armed robbery syndicate operating in the Pindiga District of Akko Local Government Area, arresting six suspects and recovering arms, ammunition and cash.
According to the police, the arrests were made on January 29, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., following credible intelligence linking the suspects to a case of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.
Those arrested include Babangida Gamji of Fobawure Village in Billiri Local Government Area; Dahiru Abdullahi of Wawa Village in Funakaye Local Government Area; Ahmadu Garba, of Song Local Government Area in Adamawa State; Umaru Bubba, also known as Babuga of Dadin Kowa in Yemaltu-Deba Lical Government Area; Isah Haruna, also of Dadin Kowa; and Unman Abdullahi of Kaltungo Local Government Area.
Another suspect, identified as Alhaji Sale Adamu, is currently at large.
Police investigations revealed that in December 2025, at about 2:30 a.m., the principal suspect, Babangida Gamji, alongside three unidentified accomplices, allegedly attacked a victim at his residence.
The attackers reportedly assaulted the victim with a rifle and a cutlass and attempted to rob him of his motorcycle. The victim was said to have narrowly escaped.
However, the suspects allegedly later contacted the victim by phone, threatened him and demanded a ransom of ₦650,000. Fearing for his safety, the victim reportedly paid the amount.
Following a formal complaint, detectives launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the principal suspect and subsequently, his accomplices.

Items recovered during the operation include one pump-action rifle, one locally made LAR rifle, 12 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one live cartridge, a cutlass and N227,000 in cash.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are undergoing further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The state Commissioner of Police, Umar Chuso, commended the officers involved in the operation and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring safety and security across the state.
The police said further developments would be communicated in due course
