The Delta State Police Command has announced a string of decisive victories against criminal syndicates operating across Delta, Bayelsa, and Rivers States, dismantling networks of kidnappers, gun runners, and drug traffickers in a series of high-powered operations.
Acting on credible intelligence, the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) arrested Abubakar Mohammed in Port Harcourt on December 29, 2025.
Under interrogation, the suspect led operatives to a bush hideout near Tobia Village, Bayelsa State, where an AK-47 rifle, 76 rounds of ammunition, and two magazines were recovered.
Further investigations on January 2, 2026, uncovered another cache at Uyamuge Forest along the Ughelli–Warri axis: one K2 rifle, a pump-action gun, 49 rounds of ammunition, three magazines, and 32 cartridges.
On January 6, the CP-SAT stormed Ohoror community along the Ughelli–Patani Road and had a fierce gun exchange with suspected kidnappers.

One suspect sustained fatal injuries and later died at the hospital. Recovered at the scene were one K-2 rifle, two locally made guns, and assorted ammunition. A manhunt is underway for the fleeing accomplices.
In a sting operation on January 3, three suspects, Areuro Oke, Onos Echabor, and Akpofure Emmanuel, were arrested in Ughelli Town during an illegal arms deal.
Police seized one pump-action gun and ₦280,000 cash, part payment for the transaction.
On January 3 and 5, the Quick Response Squad raided notorious black spots in Sapele and Effurun Roundabout, Warri, arresting Bemigho Omoghomi, Onoriode Samuel, and two others.
Large quantities of illicit drugs were recovered.
Operatives stormed the shop of Chioma Ada Ifuwe Wanogho, along Sapele–Warri Road, recovering 45 wraps of loud and SK, plus a bag of Indian hemp.
The suspect, allegedly in the trade for four years, is now in custody.
Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to crushing violent crime, illegal firearms, and drug trafficking.
He urged citizens to provide timely intelligence and warned criminals that “all forms of criminality will be met with decisive and lawful action.”
Parents were advised to monitor their wards and steer them away from crime.
