The Bauchi State Police Command has intensified its campaign against youth violence and thuggery, arresting 16 suspected thugs in a coordinated operation led by its Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
Under the directive of Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Mohammed, the operation targeted hotspots for criminal activities, including Mangororin Sale Toro, Kofar Dumi, Fadan Bayak, and Wunti. Dangerous weapons were recovered during the crackdown, which was spearheaded by CSP Suleiman Tambuwal.
The arrests are part of a larger effort to tackle the notorious “Sara Suka” phenomenon—a term referring to violent youth gangs causing destruction across the region. According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspects are currently undergoing profiling and will face charges in court.
“The command is committed to ensuring public safety by addressing criminal activities linked to Sara Suka and other forms of youth violence. These measures aim to prevent crime and protect the public,” Wakil said.

In its bid to tackle the root causes of youth violence, the police are working closely with community leaders, parents, and guardians to foster positive behavior among young people.
The Commissioner of Police urged parents to play an active role in discouraging their children from engaging in criminal activities and called on residents to report suspicious behavior.
With the festive season approaching, the command has assured residents of heightened security measures to ensure peace and safety.
“The Bauchi State Police Command will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute individuals who threaten public safety. Cooperation from the public is vital in achieving a secure environment,” said the Commissioner.
Residents are encouraged to support the police by providing information that could help prevent crime and maintain peace in the state.
