The police in Katsina State have confirmed that three people were killed by bandits in recent incidents.This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, on Wednesday.
Aliyu also said that the police successfully rescued 28 people who had been kidnapped in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state.
He explained that on July 29, around 9:24 am, they received a distress call from a concerned citizen, reporting that armed bandits had blocked a road near Inono Junction and taken about 14 people as hostages.
The police spokesman added that in response, the police quickly mobilized a team to the area.
“A shootout occurred, but thanks to the police’s strong tactics and firepower, the bandits fled. Fortunately, all 14 kidnapped individuals were rescued unharmed, although sadly, one person, named Abba from Funtua Local Government Area was killed during the chaos.
“In another incident, the previous night, on July 28 at about 11:27 pm, the police received another call reporting that bandits had attacked Zagaizagi Village and kidnapped residents.
“Again, the police responded quickly, engaged the bandits in a gunfight, and successfully rescued another 14 kidnapped victims.

“They also recovered two stolen cows. Unfortunately, two more people lost their lives during this attack,” Aliyu said.
He said the police are working hard to track down the suspects who escaped.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bello Shehu, praised the officers for their bravery in these dangerous situations.
The state police command urged the public to continue providing accurate information to help the police and other security agencies tackle crime effectively in the state.
