In response, Commissioner of Police (CP) Olufemi Abaniwonda strongly condemned any form of incivility or abuse by officers, reiterating the Command’s zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct.

In a press statement issued by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, CP Abaniwonda emphasized that the Command treats such allegations with the utmost seriousness. He has ordered a thorough and immediate investigation to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.

The Command has called on the victim, “DJ Young,” and any other relevant witnesses to come forward and provide information that will aid the investigation. Concerned citizens are encouraged to reach the police through the Complaint Response Unit’s dedicated lines: 09155570008 or 09011112311.

The statement reads in part: “The Command is aware of a viral video that captures a man who identified himself as ‘DJ Young,’ which is being circulated on various social media platforms, alleging misconduct by officers attached to the Ebrumede Division, Warri Area Command.

“The Command, under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, views such allegations with utmost seriousness and unequivocally states that any form of abuse or unprofessional conduct by police officers will not be condoned under any circumstances.

“To this end, the CP has directed an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident. He encourages any individual or group, particularly the victim ‘DJ Young’ who appeared in the recorded video, to contact the Command through the Complaint Response Unit’s dedicated numbers: 09155570008 or 09011112311.

“CP Olufemi Abaniwonda stated that the Command remains steadfast in its commitment to justice, transparency, and accountability, and assures the public that no act of misconduct will be tolerated under any guise. He has therefore tasked officers and men to uphold the tenets of professional policing in the discharge of their duties, and to conduct themselves in accordance with the law and the established code of conduct of the Force.”
