The Kano state Police Command has banned all Durbar activities during this year’s Sallah celebrations in Kano.
The state commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, while briefing newsmen on Friday revealed that the command has gathered necessary security information and consulted with critical stakeholders, which led to the decision to ban the activities.
“The ban on Durbar, a traditional horse-riding ceremony, was imposed due to credible security information that miscreants have been recruited to cause chaos and unrest.
“To prevent any potential flashpoints, the police have prohibited the carrying of objects that may raise tensions and the horse-riding ceremony, known as Hawan Sallah festivities,” he said.
