In a swift operation conducted by the State Intelligence Department (SID) attached to the Bauchi State Police Command, a notorious vehicle thief was confirmed to have been apprehended along with the recovery of a stolen vehicle.
In a statement released by the command through the Command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the police had on February 24, 2024, acted on credible intelligence and successfully arrested Ahmed Mohammed, a 29-year-old male residing in Polo High-Court, Borno State.
The arrest, he said, took place in the Bayan Gari Area of Bauchi state, where Ahmed Mohammed was found in possession of a white Toyota Highlander with registration number ABC-65PK, reported stolen.

Investigations, as further stated in the statement, revealed that Ahmed Mohammed was formerly employed as a driver at Damuli Investment Company Ltd. in Maiduguri, Borno State, which is owned by his secondary school classmate.
According to him, It was uncovered that he absconded with the vehicle, intending to sell it for two million Naira (N2,000,000) in order to pay his rent and reconcile with his estranged wife.
Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, he said has instructed further investigation to be carried out in Borno State to ascertain additional motives and unravel the full extent of Ahmed Mohammed’s actions.
