The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with an attempt to disrupt the announcement of results during the Student Union Government (SUG) election at Ebonyi State University.
The incident occurred while the election results were being announced, when the suspects allegedly fired a gunshot to disperse the crowd.
Unfortunately, the bullet struck a student, who was immediately rushed to Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, AE-FUTHA Abakaliki, for medical attention.
This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, and available to journalists in Abakaliki.

According to the statement, it was the swift response by police operatives that led to the arrest of the suspects, identified as Lawrence Azubuike, Ibe Kenneth, Njoku Joshua, and the recovery of a locally made pistol used in the act.
The police added that the suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
