The Taraba State Police Command has announced the arrest of a 37-year-old suspect in connection with the abduction of a 100-year-old man in Sabon Pegi, Ibi Local Government Area.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP James Lashen Saminu.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on August 6, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m., when three armed men stormed the home of Joshua Magani Ubandoma and forcefully abducted him. The incident was promptly reported by Hillary Habila Ubandoma at the Ibi Divisional Police Headquarters.
Following the report, police operatives, working in collaboration with local youths, launched an immediate operation. They visited the scene and tracked the kidnappers by following motorcycle tyre marks deep into the surrounding forest.

“After days of intensive search and intelligence gathering, the operatives apprehended one Kingsley Alose, 37, a resident of Sabon Pegi, on September 2, 2025,” the police stated.
The Command noted that the case is still under investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and ensure the safe recovery of the abducted centenarian.
Commending the operatives for their swift response, the Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime across the state.
“The Taraba State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to prevent crime and create a secure environment for all,” the commissioner stated.
