Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested suspected cultists and armed robbers in separate sting operations, recovering firearms and live ammunition.
The command, led by Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda, said the arrests were carried out between September 9 and 10 in Ibusa and Asaba.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday.
According to Edafe, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team stormed Ibusa on Tuesday after receiving intelligence on cult activities in the town.

A search warrant was executed at his residence, where operatives recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with one round of ammunition. The suspect confessed to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Arrow Barger,” the police spokesperson said.
In another incident, Edafe said operatives of the Safe Delta patrol team spotted a group of young men fighting with dangerous weapons along DBS Road, Asaba, on Monday.
“One of the suspects, identified as Raphael Chukwuemeka, 23, was arrested with a cut-to-size double-barrel pistol and seven live cartridges. He is in custody while investigation continues,” he added.
On Wednesday morning, another patrol team intercepted three young men during a stop-and-search at Head Bridge, Asaba. They were identified as Solomon Offor, 22, Ifesinachi Nwankeze, 19, and Ambrose Ugwuba, 23.
“A locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, cartridges and a dagger concealed inside a bag were recovered from them. The suspects were immediately taken into custody, and investigation is ongoing,” Edafe stated.
The police assured residents of Delta State that efforts are ongoing to rid the state of cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes.
