The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect linked to a viral video circulating online depicting the physical abuse of a woman in Jimeta’s Angwan Tana area.
The incident, which took place on March 13, 2025, involved a 22-year-old woman, Salamatu Yakubu, who was severely beaten by an unknown individual.
During the assault, a bystander was said to have recorded the attack and shared the video on social media, prompting widespread public outcry.
In response to the video, concerned citizens, non-governmental organisations, and civil society organizations contacted the police to act on the incident.

The quick intervention of law-enforcement, aided by community policing efforts, led to the suspect’s arrest.
Salamatu has been provided with medical treatment and is recovering in the hospital.
The suspect is now in custody at the gender unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), where further investigations are underway.
In a statement, the state police command assured the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and the suspect will face prosecution under the law.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, adding that the case will be handled with due diligence to ensure justice for the victim.
