The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Otamiri Prince in connection with a case of alleged kidnapping and rape.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Agabe Blessing in a statement on Sunday, said the arrest followed a report made by the victim.
” Following a report made on 11th April, 2026, by one Miss Thomas Alice, of Eliozu, Port Harcourt, the victim alleged that she was kidnapped on 3rd January, 2026, by an individual she met online.
“According to her statement, she was lured to Igwuruta, from where she was subsequently taken by accomplices to a bush in Ulakwo, Etche Local Government Area, where she was assaulted, raped and her valuables taken before she was later released,” the statement said.
The police said on receipt of the report, operatives of the command promptly commenced investigation, leveraging on technology-driven strategies, which led to the eventual arrest of the suspect, Otamiri Prince who confessed to the crime.
Exhibits recovered from the suspect include an iPhone, a wig suspected to belong to the victim and other valuables.
The statement said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang as investigation continues, after which the suspects will be charged to court.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, Olugbenga Adepoju has advised ladies and workers seeking for online job to exercise extreme caution when interacting with individuals met online.
He urged them to avoid meeting strangers in isolated or unfamiliar locations and always inform trusted family members or friends of their movements.
The police chief also urged them to verify identities before physical meetings, choose safe and public locations, and remain vigilant at all times.
