Operatives of the Abia State Police Command have arrested a 21-year-old university student, Chidozie Humble, for unlawful possession of firearms.
According to a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka on Friday, officers from the Serious Crime Investigation Squad (SCISSORS) apprehended the suspect on March 5, 2025, at about 10:50 am following credible intelligence.
Humble, a 300-level student in the Department of Animal Breeding and Physiology at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, was arrested in his room at Royal Heritage Lodge, Umudike, in Ikwuano Local Government Area.

During the operation, the police recovered three locally made pistols, and an English-made Czech Scorpion pistol from the suspect.
The statement emphasized the command’s commitment to reducing crime in the state, adding that Humble is currently undergoing interrogation to identify, and apprehend his accomplices.
The state commissioner of police, through DSP Chinaka, reassured residents of continued efforts to ensure public safety, and urged citizens to report suspicious activities to law- enforcement authorities.
