The Delta State Police Command has arrested armed robbers suspects, recovering a stolen Mercedes Benz GLK car, and seizing assorted firearms and stolen property in separate operations across the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 10, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, through the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said the coordinated operations were a direct result of intelligence-led policing and swift tactical response.
The statement said the first operation occurred on August 5 at about 5:40 pm, when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of B Division, Asaba, CSP Edewor Akponegware, acting on credible intelligence, led his men to a parking lot on Former Deputy Road, Asaba.
There, officers intercepted a suspected stolen Mercedes Benz GLK car with registration number NZM10AP, allegedly being offered for sale.
The suspect, identified as Chinedu Eze, who claimed to own the car, was arrested while attempting to sell it to an unsuspecting buyer.
Police investigations revealed that the vehicle had been snatched at gunpoint in April 2023 at Abakpa, Enugu State, during which the rightful owner was shot.
The car had been re-registered both in 2023 and 2025 before its recovery.
In a separate incident on August 4 at about 4:30 am, the DPO of Ogwashi-Ukwu Division, CSP Okoyomon Israel, mobilised the Anti-Crime Squad and local vigilantes to Chelsea Street, Ogwashi-Ukwu, following a distress call about an ongoing robbery.
