The Delta State Police Command has arrested notorious cult leaders in Ughelli and recovered dangerous firearms in Asaba.
In a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the command revealed that operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), stormed a hotel in the Ekuigbo area of Ughelli Town on March 6, 2026.
The operation, led by ASP Julius Robinson, resulted in the arrest of two suspected cult leaders linked to a brutal murder that occurred on January 15 in the Iwhrekpokpo area of Ughelli.
The suspects, identified as Joshua Okpogona, of Okwarabe Community, and Raphael Omokerhe, popularly known as “Black Python,” were apprehended after weeks of surveillance.

Okpogona is alleged to be the current Ughelli leader of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and the mastermind behind the killing, while Omokerhe is said to be the immediate past leader of the same group.
Police sources disclosed that the duo had been hiding in the hotel before their arrest.
Edafe said investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend other fleeing members of the cult network.
He revealed that two days later, the CP-SAT operatives struck again in Asaba, by raiding a criminal hideout at Umunaji by Stop Abortion Junction in the early hours of March 8.
The operation, the police spokesman added, led to the arrest of 22-year-old Chukwudi Ekenna.
A search of the hideout uncovered one fabricated Beretta pistol, two locally made cut-to-size guns, and ten live cartridges.
Police believe the weapons were used in cult-related and armed robbery activities within Asaba and its environs.
The suspect, now in custody, has reportedly provided useful information that is aiding ongoing investigations.
Security sources hinted that his confession could lead to the dismantling of a wider criminal network operating in the state capital.
