The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a notorious criminal, Abdulrashid Abubakar, also known as “Abba,” in connection with an assault and robbery incident that occurred in Guru Village. The arrest marks a significant step in the Command’s efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety across the state.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the incident took place on November 21, 2024, when residents of Guru Village reported that a motorcycle operator had been attacked and robbed.
“Unidentified assailants attacked a motorcycle operator, stabbing him in the back of his head with a sharp weapon, before fleeing with his red Bajaj motorcycle towards Jos Road,” the statement revealed.
Acting swiftly on the distress call, a police team, led by a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), launched an operation that resulted in the arrest of Abdulrashid Abubakar in Bakin Kura, Bauchi metropolis. The stolen motorcycle was recovered during the operation, serving as crucial evidence.

Abubakar reportedly confessed to the crime and identified his accomplice as one Adamu, who is currently at large. The police have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest all accomplices involved in the crime.
The victim was rushed to a medical facility for treatment and has since been discharged, the statement added. The Command commended the residents of Guru Village for their prompt reporting of the incident and cooperation with law enforcement authorities.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Bauchi Police Command urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to aid ongoing crime-fighting efforts. “We will leave no stone unturned in bringing all perpetrators of criminal activities to justice,” the Command assured.
