The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspect for allegedly spreading false information about police vehicles being used in armed robberies. The suspect, identified as Adamu Ahmed Suleiman, was apprehended after circulating an outdated video clip on social media that falsely implicated the police in criminal activities.
The video, which depicted a police vehicle at the scene of a robbery, was used by Suleiman to claim that police vehicles were involved in most of the robbery incidents in the state. However, during a press briefing, the Police Command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, clarified that the video was misleading. He explained that the footage was from an old incident where police officers had actually responded to a distress call and were in pursuit of the criminals involved.

Wakil condemned the false accusations, emphasizing that the Bauchi State Police will not be deterred from their duties by such defamatory claims. He warned that spreading misinformation could incite fear and unrest among the public, undermining the efforts of law enforcement.
The police also called on the citizens of Bauchi to trust in the force and to provide accurate information that could help in apprehending real criminals. The command urged the public to be cautious about the content they share online and to refrain from spreading false or misleading information.
The suspect, Suleiman, is currently being held under the Cybercrimes Act 2024 for knowingly transmitting offensive and defamatory content.
