The Jigawa State Police Command says it has arrested a man posing as a soldier alongside three suspected car thieves after a stolen vehicle they were driving crashed in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, who are all from Kano State, were apprehended on September 8, 2025, at about 7:50 a.m. in Sabon Sara village, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam.
The police spokesperson said the suspects had stolen a blue Golf saloon vehicle, with registration number MGA 108 JG, from Agura Motor Park, Kafin Hausa, on September 7, 2025. They were later forced to abandon the vehicle after an accident.
Those arrested include: Kabiru Musa (35), of Rimin Kebe Quarters, who falsely claimed to be a Lance Corporal of the 102 Guard Brigade in Abuja; Umar Ali (25), of Haye Quarters; and Sabiu Bashir (25), of Tokarawa village.
Police investigators later confirmed that Musa was an impersonator, not a serving soldier as he claimed. Items recovered from him included seven ATM cards, two driver’s licences, and other documents linked to suspected fraud operations.

“The suspects are now facing court charges after the investigation was completed,” Adam said.
The Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad, praised the Kafin Hausa Division for the arrests and urged residents to provide credible information to help the command combat crime.
This development adds to a growing list of security incidents in Jigawa in 2025. Earlier in March, police arrested an ex-convict and other suspected thieves involved in motor vehicle, motorcycle, and livestock thefts. In July, operatives recovered a stolen Kia Sorento, arrested a cable vandal, and intercepted drug traffickers in separate raids.
