The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the driver involved in the car accident that nearly took the life of world boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi said the driver of the Lexus SUV carrying Joshua and two of his friends is now in police custody, while investigations continue.
The crash happened on Monday morning near Danco axis, when the Lexus SUV reportedly slammed into a stationary truck along the expressway.
Sadly, two passengers lost their lives in the accident. They were later identified as Ayodele Kelvin Olu, a 36-year-old Nigerian-British citizen, and Gami Sina, a 36-year-old British national.
Joshua sustained injuries but survived the crash. Both the Lagos and Ogun State governments later confirmed that the boxing star had been discharged from Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, after doctors declared him medically stable.

In a joint statement, officials from both states described the incident as painful and deeply unfortunate, while offering condolences to the families of the deceased.
The statement also revealed that Anthony Joshua and his mother visited a Lagos funeral home on Wednesday to pay their final respects to the late friends, whose bodies were being prepared for repatriation.
Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State thanked Nigerians for their prayers and support.
They also appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his concern and support during the period.
Medical staff at Lagoon Hospital were equally praised for their professionalism and care.
