The Gombe State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in connection with the abduction and gruesome murder of a six-year-old boy, Muhammad Ibrahim Bulama, in Bura-Bunga Village, Bojude District, Kwami Local Government Area.

A statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Buhari Abdullahi, said the suspects confessed to killing the child for money ritual purposes.

Preliminary investigations, as stated by the police, revealed that the heinous act was allegedly masterminded by the boy’s biological father, identified as Gimba, who remains at large.

“The Gombe State Police Command wishes to inform the public of a tragic and deeply disturbing criminal case involving the abduction and murder of six-year-old Muhammad Ibrahim Bulama for money rituals,” the statement read.

Those arrested have been identified as Magaji Adamu, Babayo Musa, Jibrin Muhammad, also known as Ya’Haji, Usman Abubakar Khalla, Sadam Umaru, Idris Dayyabu, Abdulrauf Hussaini, and Isiyaku Muhammad, all of various addresses across Kwami Local Government Area and Gombe Town.

The case came to light when the boy’s grandfather noticed his disappearance in mid-February 2025.

Despite immediate search efforts, the boy’s whereabouts remained unknown until April 18, when a formal report was lodged at the Bojude Divisional Police Headquarters.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two suspects, with six more apprehended following intelligence operations by the anti-kidnapping squad.

The command, revealed that the key suspect, Gimba, remains at large and is being sought actively.

The state Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya assured residents that a thorough investigation is ongoing to ensure all perpetrators face justice.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to tackle crime across the state.
