This was disclosed via a post on X post by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on August 31, 2025.

The police spokesperson disclosed that in Akwa Ibom State, on August 16, 2025, police officers from the Eket Division, along with local youth responded to a report about a kidnapping attempt on Factory Road in Afia Nsit, Eket.

He said the swift action resulted in the rescue of a man named Emerson and the capture of two suspects, Okon Okon and Emmanuel Bassey.

Adejobi said a subsequent search of an unfinished building nearby uncovered an AK-47 rifle, an assault rifle, 67 rounds of ammunition, a pump-action shotgun, six magazines, and a mobile phone, believed to belong to the kidnappers.

The police, he added, are now working to locate other members of the gang who escaped.

Similarly, he said the police in Nasarawa State on August 18, 2025, while responding to a car crash involving an Opel Vectra, uncovered a G3 rifle after two occupants of the vehicle has fled the scene.

Upon further inspection, Adejobi said the police further discovered an AK-47 rifle, a Type 06 rifle, another G3 rifle, three magazines, 57 rounds of ammunition, and a total of ₦6,908,150.00.

“A man named Mohammed Tahir, who had fled the scene, was later arrested. He admitted to being part of a seven-member gang involved in the kidnapping of a lawyer in Abuja, for which they had received ransom money,” he stated.

Adejobi said these successful actions highlight the dedication of the police to ensuring public safety and security.
