The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 25 suspects following a violent attack on the Divisional Police Officer of the Kwadon Division, CSP Adamu Alhaji-Idi.
A statement released on Wednesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said Alhaji-Idi was assaulted by suspected members of the notorious Kalare gang on Tuesday, while performing official duties in Kwadon Town.
The statement said the senior police officer sustained serious injuries, including a deep wound to the forehead, and is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.
“The Gombe State Police Command strongly condemns the recent violent attack on a serving divisional police officer and wishes to inform the general public of the ongoing efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Abdullahi said.
“A distress call regarding the incident was received around 9:00 am from the deputy commissioner of police in-charge of operations.

“A team from ‘Operation Hattara’, led by CSP Ali Madaki, responded swiftly and arrested 25 suspects, all residents of Kwadon. The suspects are in police custody and are undergoing a thorough investigation,” the police stated.
The statement added that the state Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya, along with other senior officers, visited Kwadon to assess the situation and offer support to the local police division.
“Their visit was aimed at assessing the situation first hand, commiserating with officers on the ground and assuring the community of the command’s resolve to tackle criminality without compromise,” the statement noted.
Abdullahi reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance on violence against law enforcement personnel.
“The era of attacking security personnel with impunity is over. The command will ensure justice is served and peace is maintained,” he said.
He urged residents of Kwadon and Gombe State at large to cooperate with the police and remain law-abiding as investigations continue.
