The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected notorious armed robbers, alleged to be behind multiple nighttime attacks on churches across the state, carting away instruments and other valuables.
The suspects identified as Emmanuel Emiowor of PTI Road, Warri, and Noah Philip of PTI Road, Warri, were arrested on September 16, 2025, during a foiled armed attack on Dominican City Church, along Polytechnic Road, near Sticals Hotel.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bright Edafe, said the arrest followed a distress call received by the command.
Edafe said police patrol teams from the Ogwashi-Uku Division, led by CSP Israel Okomoyon, in collaboration with local vigilantes, intercepted a gold-coloured Toyota Sienna Space van with registration number EFR-150-XB, suspected to have been used by the gang.
A search of the vehicle and suspects led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and items allegedly used for their operations.
The items recovered by the police include one pump-action gun, three single-barreled locally made guns, one locally fabricated revolver gun, one live cartridge, and one iron rod used for breaking church doors.

The police confirmed that the suspects confessed to being members of a criminal syndicate that specialises in attacking churches at night.
Some looted properties have already been recovered, while further investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the swift action of the operatives and reiterated the command’s commitment to rid Delta State of criminals.
“Delta State will never be allowed to become a safe haven for crime. The command remains relentless in pursuing offenders and dismantling their networks.
“However, the continued support and cooperation of residents remain vital in sustaining these gains,” Abaniwonda said.
