The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects for allegedly impregnating a 13-year-old mentally unstable girl in Tungar Giwa Village in Shanga Local Government Area.
The arrests were made as part of the police’s efforts to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the state.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence received by the divisional police officer in Shanga on July 13, 2025.
The suspects are Ibrahim Bakanike, Danladi Nauyi, Danjuma Meli, Ibrahim Dankura, Ibrahim Isiaka, Masta Maishayi, and Bello Muhammad.
Others include, Danjuma Kodo, Aminu Isah, Zayyanu Isah and Ahmed Usman.

All the suspects are male residents of Tungar Giwa Village.
The police said investigations revealed that the suspects took advantage of the victim, Sa’ima Dauda, who wandered the village due to her mental condition.
They allegedly lured her with sums ranging from ₦200 to ₦500, had repeated sexual intercourse with her, and impregnated her.
During preliminary interrogation, all arrested suspects reportedly confessed to the crime.
The Commissioner of Police, Bello
Sani, has ordered the deputy commissioner in- charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to intensify efforts in arresting two other remaining suspects still at large.
Sani reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and expediting investigations into all GBV cases in Kebbi State.
