The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has smashed an armed robbery gang, arresting six suspects linked to a wave of violent attacks around nightclubs and recreational centres in Abuja.
The breakthrough came on Friday, January 17, 2026, at about 5:45 p.m., following actionable intelligence that prompted the Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, to order an immediate clampdown on the criminal network.
Acting swiftly, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Aliyu Abubakar, launched a covert, intelligence-led operation.
The raid, led by ACP Victor Godfrey of the elite Scorpion Squad, tracked the suspects to their hideout in Dakwa, Dei-Dei area of the FCT, where they were arrested while allegedly planning another attack.
Those arrested are Suleiman Magaji, Abdullahi Abubakar, Abubakar Shitu, Sani Ibrahim, Rabiu Dahiru, and Ahmen Abdullahi.
Police investigations linked the gang to several armed robbery incidents across the FCT, including a recent high-profile attack at Crystal Lounge, Wuse II.
In that incident, a hotel guest was reportedly robbed of gold jewellery valued at about ₦15 million. The suspects allegedly sold the stolen items for just ₦1.2 million.
