The Delta State Police Command has notified residents of Ogwashi-Uku and surrounding communities of a scheduled firearms exercise as part of the ongoing 15th biennial Nigeria Police Games, tagged “ASABA 2026.”
The command said the shooting event will take place at the Base 31 Police Mobile Force Shooting Range, along Kwale Road in Asaba.
The exercise is slated to run from Sunday, February 15 to Thursday, February 19, 2026, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.
Police authorities stressed that the event will involve the controlled use of firearms strictly within the confines of the designated shooting range.
Residents of Ogwashi-Uku and adjoining areas have been urged not to panic at the sound of gunshots during the period, as comprehensive safety and operational protocols have been put in place.

The command further disclosed that access to the immediate vicinity of the range will be temporarily restricted throughout the duration of the exercise.
Motorists and residents were advised to comply fully with all traffic diversions and security directives issued by officers on ground.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Aina Adesola, assured members of the public of the command’s commitment to safety, professionalism, and strict adherence to operational standards.
He also appealed for understanding and cooperation from residents.
