Nigeria’s U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, have formally resumed camp in Abuja, setting the stage for an intense build-up to their crucial FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash against Senegal.
The team opened camp on Saturday, January 4, 2026, at the Westpoint Hotel, Abuja, marking the start of a carefully structured preparation programme aimed at securing Nigeria’s place at the Poland 2026 finals. Seventeen players reported for duty at the start of camp, with additional invitees expected to arrive in the coming days to complete the squad.
Training sessions have already gathered momentum, with the technical crew placing strong emphasis on team cohesion, tactical organisation and physical conditioning. The focus, according to officials, is to ensure the Falconets hit peak form ahead of the high-stakes third-round qualifier.

Head coach Moses Aduku expressed satisfaction with the early phase of preparations, noting that player assessments are ongoing as training intensity increases. He explained that sessions are being designed to sharpen tactical discipline, improve game intelligence and strengthen the team’s overall structure, all key elements for success at this stage of qualification.
Nigeria will enjoy home advantage in the first leg of the tie, scheduled for Saturday, February 7, at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. The decisive return leg will take place a week later, on Saturday, February 14, in Dakar, where Senegal will look to challenge the Falconets on their home turf.
With the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup set to be hosted by Poland later in the year, the stakes could not be higher for the Falconets, who are aiming to extend Nigeria’s proud history in the competition and reaffirm their status as one of Africa’s dominant forces in women’s football.
