The Plateau State government has started building a new water treatment plant in Tudun Wada, located in the Jos North Local Government Area.
The facility will have a capacity of 80,000 litres and will use solar power to treat and supply water.
Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, Mr. Bashir Datti explained that the plant is part of the government’s efforts to provide clean and safe drinking water to more communities in the state.
By using renewable solar energy, the project aims to reduce costs and ensure a steady supply of safe water for the people.
According to him, once completed, the plant is expected to improve water availability for many households in Tudun Wada and nearby areas, helping to solve problems with water shortages.

Datti also mentioned that this project will serve as a model for using clean energy in water treatment.
He emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing water infrastructure, highlighting the importance of a reliable water supply for public health, economic development, and protecting the environment.
The commissioner encouraged residents to take ownership of the project and to help protect it from vandalism.
District Head of Tudun Wada, Mr. Peter Adah praised the government for this initiative, calling it a timely solution to the long-standing water issues in the area.
He also assured the government that the project would be well-protected both during and after construction.
