The pioneer Head of Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mrs. Grace Adayilo, has been confirmed dead.
Adayilo reportedly passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.
Her death was confirmed in a terse message by her Special Assistant on Media, Anthony Odey, on Monday.
However, he declined to disclose further details regarding the circumstances surrounding her demise.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Adayilo as the first substantive head of service of the FCT on October 6, 2024, a historic appointment that not only made her the pioneer occupant of the office but also the first woman to hold the position.

Before her elevation to the FCT civil service top job, Adayilo served as the permanent secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, where she distinguished herself in public service.
As of the time of filing this report, neither her family nor the FCT Administration has issued an official statement on the cause of her death.
Her passing comes barely a day after the death of former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, who died at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja on Sunday.
Arase, who served as the 18th inspector-general of police, was, until his death, the former chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
