The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Senatorial candidate in the February 3rd, 2024 bye-election in Ebonyi South zone, Barrister Silas Onu has expressed concern over the exclusion of the state from the appointment of judges in the just concluded federal Capital Territory high court.
Onu, in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to discontinue the unjust process of the appointment of judges in the FCT High Court to include Ebonyi state where the applications are expected from.
According to him, the publication listed the States where applicants are expected, and to his greatest shock, Ebonyi State was deliberately not listed among the States where applications are expected.

“We have no single judge there! Is the federal character principle blind to the interest of Ebonyians? Or are we considered not to be good enough for the FCT Bench? The publication listed states that already dominates the FCT High Court as if it has become the exclusive preserve of these States.
“I call on the Federal Judicial Service Commission and National Judicial Council to discontinue this unjust process and immediately include Ebonyi State as one of the focal States with a minimum of 3 slots to make up for our absence on the FCT Bench,” he said
The Candidate, however, called all well-meaning Nigerians, the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Abuja, the Nigeria Government, and as well Nigerian Senate
to lend their voices towards correcting the obvious and deliberate act of excluding Ebonyi State from having even a single judge on the FCT Bench.
