The Peoples Democratic Party has been cast into deep mourning following the sudden death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, who collapsed yesterday and was later confirmed dead. The party said the news sent shockwaves through its National Working Committee and its members across the country, especially in Bayelsa where he served as a central figure in government and politics.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the PDP described the late deputy governor as a trusted and loyal party figure whose commitment to principle defined his public life. The party said he remained steadfast in his convictions and never wavered in his pursuit of honest, value-driven politics. According to the statement, his integrity and strength of character shaped every phase of his service and sustained him until his final moment.

The PDP called his death a painful and irreplaceable loss, offering condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State. It prayed for comfort for his family and for the repose of his soul. Senator Ewhrudjakpo’s passing is seen as a major blow to the state and the party, where he was widely regarded as a calm, principled and dependable leader.
