In a move to stabilise the party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum have upheld the choice of Udeh Okoye as the national secretary of the party.
Rising from its meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Monday, the governors ratified Okoye’s nomination as the substantive national secretary of the party.
The forum in its communique read by the Chairman and Governor of Ba uchi State, Bala Mohammed, said the PDP governors stand by their earlier decision taken in Asaba, Delta State, recognising Udeh-Okoye as the substantive national secretary of the PDP.

The forum, however, at today’s meeting resolved that in the wake of the recent judgement of the Supreme Court, the PDP deputy national secretary is recommended to act as national secretary to allow the South East zone to nominate the substantive national secretary.
The South East zone of the PDP which had stood by its ground on the nomination of Udeh-Okoye is now expected to, in the wake of the Supreme Court judgement, return Udeh-Okoye to the National Working Committee of the party as its nominee for the position in line with the provision of the constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).
