The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has taken decisive steps to address the ongoing leadership crisis within the party, calling on the National Working Committee (NWC) to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on March 13, 2025.
The governors, who met at the Government House in Asaba, Delta State, reaffirmed their support for the recent Court of Appeal judgment regarding the disputed National Secretary position. Speaking on behalf of the Forum, its Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, expressed satisfaction with efforts to resolve the internal wrangling, urging the NWC to implement the court’s verdict without delay.
Amid discussions on party unity, the Forum commended PDP governors for implementing policies that alleviate hardship and promote sustainable development in their states. It also praised Nigeria’s Armed Forces and security agencies for their continued fight against banditry but raised concerns over the resurgence of non-state actors, calling for stronger security measures nationwide.
The host governor, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, welcomed the governors and used the occasion to highlight the PDP’s deep-rooted dominance in Delta since 1999. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to infrastructure, human capital development, and security, noting that Delta remains a shining example of PDP-led governance.
