The Peoples Democratic Party has suffered another sharp drop in its ranks after the exits of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. Their departure leaves the party with only six sitting governors, marking one of its weakest moments since 1999.
Fubara completed his switch to the All Progressives Congress on December 9. Adeleke, who resigned from the PDP in November, confirmed his move to the Accord Party on the same day.

The six PDP governors still in office are Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.
The party’s ranks had already thinned earlier in the year when Peter Mbah of Enugu, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta left the fold.
