A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) in Akwa Ibom state Obong AKpaobong Udoekpo has charged the governorship candidate of the party in the state pastor Umo Eno to tackle industrialization and rural development template laid down by Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Udoekpo who contested the party primary for OrukAnam state constituency in May, while fielding questions from newsmen in Uyo on Sunday said he still believes in PDP though he lost out in the race for the state House of Assembly party primary election.
He disclosed that the PDP has a genuine political ideology for Akwa Ibom and Nigeria adding that the party ideals must be sustained in the state.
” I have been assisting my people in my private capacity but I needed government platform to help them more. But when the aspiration flopped, I have to surrender to the supremacy of the party.
” Of course, I believe in PDP. I am not the type that walks around from one party to another because that will amount to loitering in politics.
” If you look at politics, it has to do with ideology. Right from time, I have been in PDP and I knew that they have ideology and they have what to offer to this state and the federation. But along the line, I don’t know how APC came in took over and you know how the government is doing.

Udoekpo; a Group Account Manager with VKS construction company working for Akwa Ibom state government explained that after the PDP primary in the state, aspirants were invited to a reconciliation meeting where he obliged the party decisions on the outcome of the primary election.
” I did not defect to another party. I accepted the reconciliation but I pointed out that the party should address every injustice arising from the primary election.
“I am working with PDP. We have reconciled and I think they have reported to the governor ”
Udoekpo maintained that he would have divided his constituency into three parts for easy rural development.
He said all his supporters have been handed over to the PDP governorship candidate in the state pastor Umo Eno to ensure victory in 2023.
He said the PDP gubernatorial candidate should concentrate on industrialization, rural development and Ibom Deepsea project.
He said these projects are important to the state and must continue for the interest of the people.
” I will tell Umo Eno to continue with industrialization, rural development and Ibom Deepsea project as well as Agriculture.
” Rural development will stop rural -Urban drift while Ibom Deepsea project will create jobs for Akwa Ibom people” he said.
