A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Ufuoma Orido has defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC), along with over 250 PDP members.
Orido, who is also the national adviser of the Ibori Suenu Grassroot Network, cited the PDP’s failure to deliver development to the people as the reason for his defection.
He explained that his decision to join the APC is driven by his desire to bring development to his people, just as he praised the efforts of Rep. Erhiatake Ibori Suenu, who represents the Ethiope Federal Constituency, for empowering the people of her constituency through various programmes.
Orido noted that unlike previous House of Representatives members, Rep. Ibori Suenu’s impact has been felt, and as such he is committed in joining the lawmaker in her development crusade.

He assured the APC executives in Egbo Ward 10 that he and the other defectors will not disappoint the party, reaffirming his commitment to work for the party to ensure that it takes over Delta State in 2027.
The ward Chairman of the APC, Mr. Peter Oghojafor, welcomed the defectors, stating that they are now stakeholders in the party with equal rights.
The defection ceremony was attended by several notable APC members, including the Chairman of APC in Ethiope East, Chief Julius Ogboru and the Federal Commissioner for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Chief Martin Egharhevwa.
The APC leaders commended the defectors for taking the right step, urging them to work hard to ensure the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
The event was seen as a significant boost to the APC’s chances in Delta State, with many attendees expressing optimism about the party’s prospects.
The defection of Orido and his supporters is expected to have a ripple effect, potentially attracting more PDP members to the APC.
