The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) board of trustees, has given Samuel Anyawu the nod to continue as secretary of the party, pending the determination of his appeal against the judgment of the Appeal Court which had removed him from the position.

This was the high point of the report of the committee set up by the national leadership of the party, headed by Alhaji Tanimu Turaki
to resolve all contending issues before the party’s upcoming National Executive Committee meeting later in the year.

The party stated: “It can be recalled that in our last meeting on 29 January, 2025, at the national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja; the board resolved that a committee be constituted and headed by Alhaji Taminu Turki and secretary of the board to meet and find lasting solution to the leadership crisis in the party.

“The committee was mandated to meet and submit its report as soon as possible. Having met on several occasions to deliberate on issues of public importance, the committee therefore resolves as follows:

“That, since there is a substantive appeal at the Supreme Court: SC No – Appeal No: CA/E/23/2024, SUIT NO: E/882/2023, the Respondent (Aniagu Emmanuel) acting in favour of (Udeh S. Okoye), and their agent should apply caution by waiting pending the determination of the appeal.

“That, there is a substantive ground to believe that in Motion No: CA/E/01M/2025, the Appellant (Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu) obtained a stay of execution order of the Appeal Court judgement in December 20, 2024.

“That, considering the grounds of legal backings in support of the Appellant as established by his Legal representatives, the board resolved that he should be supported to continue to exercise his duties as National Secretary of PDP pending the final outcome of the appeal at Supreme Court.

“That, having established a substantive legal ground to remain as National Secretary of PDP, it will be injurious, grave danger and huge mistake to our party to allow any other person other than the Appellant, Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu to sign documents of the party or relate with relevant bodies on behalf of PDP.

“That, all critical stakeholders and Governors of PDP should most kindly rally round the resolution of the board in the interest of the party to avoid making legal mistakes that will severely affect the party in future congresses and elections.

“That, the board unequivocally frowns at members of PDP secretly working for the ruling APC with a view to destabilizing the peace, and unity of our party.

“That, at no time should any member, leader or critical stakeholder of our party convene any press conference where matters concerning the internal misunderstanding within our great party will be discussed without pre-information to the leadership of PDP.

“That, all leaders should strive to work for the peace, unity, development and viability of our party. The board therefore charged the National Publicity Secretary of PDP to work towards reviving, resuscitating and recreating a new image for our party

“That, leaders and critical stakeholders of our party should kindly reduce the rate of bad media hype against PDP which is gradually reducing the popularity of the party.”

The board of trustees further advised the leadership of our party at all levels to always carry members and leaders along in the critical decision making of the party.

“In the light of the above, the board without favour, sentiment, or contradiction advised all relevant stakeholder especially, Governors of our party to find any way possible to make peace and unite everyone for the interest of our party ahead of future elections,” it added
