The organised labour in Ondo state has called on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration to fulfill its promise of giving priority to the defraying arrears of salaries of workers in the state in the new year.
This was made known in a New Year message to workers, where the labour union asserted that they have assurances that Salaries will not only be timely but the arrears will be paid in no time.
“Fellow workers, It has become necessary to make some clarification concerning the payment of salaries and pension in the public service of Ondo State.
“Workers in the State civil service got 235% salaries this month. Though, not enough to clear the arrears of outstanding salaries
“However, following the series of meetings with the Government Representatives as led by the Head of Service in the last few weeks, we have assurances that Salaries will not only be prompt but the arrears will be defrayed in no distant time.”
The union lauded the State Government for making payment of salaries and pension a preference at every state allocation meeting in spite of the dwindling finances of states, However, they expressed hope that the quick payment of salary will not be abridged.
“We thank you for your understanding and plead that you continue to keep faith in this as we will not leave stone unturned at ensuring our rights and privileges are guaranteed. Wishing all of us a prosperous new year,” said the organised labour.
