Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the revered General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), openly predicted how and when he believes his death will occur.
Speaking during the evening session of the 73rd Annual Convention of RCCG, themed “The Overcomers”, at the Old Auditorium in Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the 82-year-old cleric revealed that he foresees his passing taking place on a Sunday, shortly after attending church.
Without giving a specific date, Pastor Adeboye painted a serene picture of his final moments, saying he would attend a lively Sunday service, return home, enjoy a plate of pounded yam, and then pass away peacefully.
He firmly told the thousands in attendance not to question how he came to this revelation, stressing that death is not always preceded by illness and that the most important preparation is spiritual readiness.

During the service, which drew worshippers from across Nigeria and beyond, Pastor Adeboye also led fervent prayers for divine healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, long life, and protection against evil. Quoting 2 Corinthians 8:9, he emphasized that prosperity is part of God’s promise to believers, warning that poverty is one of the devil’s strategies to hinder the spread of the gospel.
The unusual prophecy has since ignited intense conversations on social media, with #PastorAdeboye trending across platforms as Nigerians react to his bold statement. For many of his followers, it was a sobering reminder of life’s fragility; for others, it was an extraordinary glimpse into the faith and foresight of one of Africa’s most influential religious leaders.
