Members of the Bayelsa State Police Command‘s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit have taken into custody a pastor from Delta State, Elijah Oro, for allegedly plotting to assassinate a competing prophet in the area.
According to police sources, Pastor Oro is accused of hiring 21-year-old Samuel Daniel, a member of the infamous Greenlanders cult, to execute the attack.
The alleged scheme reportedly stemmed from a conflict over church membership and property.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Musa Mohammed stated that the arrests were made based on reliable intelligence.

He confirmed that both individuals are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the attempted murder of a prophet, whose identity has not been disclosed.
Mohammed explained that “on January 28, 2026, at approximately 10:35 am, SWAT operatives apprehended Samuel Daniel, from the Nembe Ogbolomabiri Community, and Pastor Elijah Oro, from Ozoro Community in Delta State, in connection with an alleged plot to kill a prophet.”
He further noted that initial investigations indicated that Daniel was caught at the prophet’s location and confessed to being a member of the Greenlanders cult, allegedly hired by Pastor Oro to carry out the assassination.
The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the motive behind the alleged plot.
