The arrival of a new born baby in a home usually elicits joy, especially after years of childlessness.
The case of Mr Joseph Ogagbe and his wife, Patience, seem to be the reverse as the arrival of a set of quintuplets after eight years of childlessness, has become a source of worry, sorrow and anxiety.
Mr Ogagbe who is jobless, is appealing to public spirited individuals to come to his family’s aid, as fending for the quintuplets, made up of three boys and two girls is now a herculean task.
The father of the quintuplets, who hails from Ovu in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, got married to his hearthrob, Patience in 2016, but they remained childless for eight years.
The couple’s joy knew no bounds when Mrs Ogagbe, eventually conceived in 2024. Little did they know that, she was carrying an overdose of blessings.
According to Mr Ogagbe, when his wife was in labour he was happy, expecting her to deliver one child, but he got the shock of his life, when she eventually delivered a set of five children, three boys and two girls.
Mr Ogagbe, who resides in Warri in a one bedroom plank house, recounted that, when he heard the news of his wife safe delivery, he wanted to run away from the responsibility of taking care of the five babies, not because he did not appreciate the blessing but because he did not know where to start from to raise money to take care of them.

Similarly, the mother of the quintuplets, Mrs Patience Ogagbe, who is from Udu Local Government Area, said her husband who was a dockworker, is currently jobless and she has been assisting the home with her petty trade but can no longer do so, due to the heavy responsibility of taking care of the children.
She appealed to religious and, corporate organisations, government agencies, non- governmental organizations and public spirited individuals to come to their aid by giving a job to her husband who is a trained rigger.
For now, the desperate husband and wife are relying on assistance from friends, relatives and neighbours to take care of the quintuplets.
