Founder of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, has spoken out against requests from certain Muslim groups for female students in mission-run schools to be allowed to wear the hijab.
During a church service, Oyedepo compared these demands to “a tenant telling a landlord what to do,” asserting that such requests exceed reasonable boundaries.
He stressed that mission schools should adhere to their established values, urging those pushing for this change to “leave the schools to their rightful owners” and establish their own institutions where hijab wearing would be fully accepted.
The bishop denounced what he termed as attempts to intimidate the church in Nigeria, warning that “God is a consuming fire” and that such actions could lead to divine repercussions.
In his message, Oyedepo also prayed against ritual killings, kidnappings, and the devastation of farmland, seeking divine judgment on those responsible.
He encouraged church members to remain prayerful and steadfast in their faith.
He remarked that “it’s a troubling situation in Kwara State, where Muslims are demanding that their students wear hijab in our schools.
“The church has firmly said no. I’ve never witnessed a tenant trying to dictate terms to a landlord.
“The reason is that we haven’t shown the world the other side of God. God is not a toy; He is a consuming fire.

“We need to demonstrate that aspect of God. Leave the schools for their rightful owners. Go to your own schools where hijab can be worn freely.
“There’s no conflict here. The church should not be challenged. The church is sacred and powerful.
“When God withdraws His support from anyone or any system, that system is doomed. My advice, which I believe will be heard, is to leave the schools for their owners and establish your own.
“There, men and women can wear hijab. Stop trying to impose your beliefs on others.
“Father, put an end to all harassment against your church in Nigeria. We are also facing the issue of ritual killings, which are driven by demand. Lord, let judgment fall upon the ritual killers and their followers.
“Let your judgment come upon the kidnappers who traffic human beings. Bring your judgment upon those who destroy the fruits of people’s labor.
“We need to pray earnestly. Are you aligned with this? If not, please step out. Are you in agreement with this? Now, pray as someone who is in alignment.”
