The Ojude Oba Festival, a famous event celebrating culture and tradition, is expected to see over 100 million participants in its 2025 edition, according to the organizing committee.
The Coordinator of the festival, Dr. Fassy Yusuf, shared this news during an interview in Abeokuta. The festival is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Ijebu-Ode, honoring the Awujale of Ijebuland.
Yusuf called the festival a crucial part of the Ijebu people’s cultural heritage, highlighting its importance to Nigeria’s rich traditions that have lasted for more than 200 years.
He mentioned that many Ijebu people from around the world, along with tourists and dignitaries, will come together to enjoy the vibrant displays of culture, fashion, and tradition at the Utoro Centre in Ijebu-Ode.
Of the expected 100 million participants, around 200,000 are expected to gather at the main pavilion and nearby areas.
Additionally, between two and three million people plan to join the festivities in Ijebu towns and other regions of Ogun State. There will also be millions more watching online through various live streaming platforms.

Yusuf assured everyone that their safety is a top priority. Comprehensive security measures are being put in place to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration, with support from the Nigerian Police, military, and local security groups.
He emphasized that the Ojude Oba Festival is not just a celebration but also a way to bring the Ijebu community together, boost local economies, and showcase Nigeria’s culture to the world.
“This festival represents our pride, unity, and strength in our culture. We will do everything we can to keep this important event safe from any disruptions,” he affirmed.
Yusuf also expressed gratitude to corporate sponsors and supporters, noting that their contributions reflect a shared commitment to cultural pride and national progress.
