Fire Service. The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) confirmed the portal officially shut down at midnightNigeria’s latest federal government recruitment drive has triggered a massive response, as over 1.9 million Nigerians scrambled to secure just 30,000 slots in the Civil Defence, Correctional Service, Immigration, and Federal on Monday, August 11, after a week-long extension.

The recruitment portal, which opened on July 14, 2025, had initially been scheduled for closure on August 4 but was extended due to technical glitches and the overwhelming number of applications. The Ministry of Interior revealed that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) alone received more than 1.5 million applications, while the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) also recorded unprecedented interest.

This surge in applications highlights the intense competition for government jobs in Nigeria, especially in the security and paramilitary sectors, where thousands of unemployed graduates and skilled youths see an opportunity for stability and career growth.

The Ministry of Interior expressed appreciation to all applicants, urging successful candidates to uphold integrity, patriotism, and dedication in service to the nation. Shortlisted candidates will be notified in the coming weeks via email, SMS, and official social media platforms.

Authorities have advised all applicants to remain vigilant, regularly check the recruitment portal, and be on the lookout for fake job scam messages. Only official CDCFIB channels will provide authentic updates.

This year’s recruitment process, despite early delays caused by network instability, has become one of the largest federal paramilitary job exercises in Nigeria’s history, reflecting not just the government’s hiring drive, but also the country’s urgent unemployment crisis.
