The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has refuted claims made in a viral video, alleging that its fuel does not last, describing such claims as false and misleading.
In an official statement released on Saturday, and signed by Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPCL, the company insisted that the video is based on unverified research, lacking credibility and professional oversight.
It emphasized that its fuel is carefully formulated to ensure optimal efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability for consumers.
It further pointed out that a significant portion of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at its retail stations in Lagos, where the video originated is sourced from the Dangote Refinery, a key partner in enhancing local production and energy security.
The NNPCL added that Dangote Refinery adheres to strict industry standards, guaranteeing the quality of petroleum products supplied to Nigerians.

“This misleading video represents yet another desperate attempt by economic saboteurs to misinform the public and tarnish NNPCL’s reputation,” the statement read. “We will not tolerate deliberate misinformation designed to undermine our operations and mislead Nigerians.”
NNPCL also warned that it would take legal action against individuals or groups spreading falsehoods about its brand and operations. It urged the public to disregard the viral video and rely on verified sources for accurate information regarding fuel quality and availability.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring fuel availability, affordability, and adherence to global industry standards, assuring Nigerians of its dedication to maintaining high-quality petroleum products.
