The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has blasted the All Progressives Congress (APC), condemning what it calls a torrent of “disrespectful and ignorant” attacks on the Presidency following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent meeting with Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.
In a statement signed by the Osun PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party accused the APC of embarrassing itself with unwarranted criticisms over the Lagos meeting between the President and Governor Adeleke. According to Bisi, the backlash from APC loyalists is not only disgraceful but reveals a shocking disregard for democratic norms and intergovernmental cooperation.
“The bitterness and childish tantrums displayed by APC chieftains since Governor Adeleke’s visit to President Tinubu’s residence are nothing short of political immaturity,” Bisi said. “This is a blatant assault not just on the person of the Governor, but on the very institution of the Presidency.”
The PDP emphasized that Governor Adeleke, as the duly elected leader of Osun State, reserves the right to engage the Presidency and other federal structures to pursue development goals for his people. The party stressed that such interactions are crucial for collaborative governance, especially in a federal system like Nigeria’s.

Citing previous instances, the Osun PDP accused the state APC of a pattern of hostility toward top government officials who recognize Adeleke’s achievements. The party referenced the backlash that followed visits to the state by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, House of Representatives member Ado Doguwa, and Presidential Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, all of whom were allegedly insulted by Osun APC members simply for acknowledging Governor Adeleke’s progress.
Hon. Bisi reminded the APC of historical precedents, noting that former Osun Governor Bisi Akande once hosted President Olusegun Obasanjo, a political rival at the time, for three days of state visits and project commissioning, demonstrating the essence of mature governance and leadership.
“That is what true leadership looks like,” Bisi remarked. “Perhaps the current APC figures in Osun should take a page from the legacy of statesmen like Baba Bisi Akande rather than perpetuating toxic partisanship.”
He urged the APC to put the people first and abandon the politics of bitterness. Commending Governor Adeleke for his unwavering focus on peace, progress, and diplomacy, the PDP said Osun’s development must never be sacrificed on the altar of party rivalry.
