The Osun State government has introduced Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service aimed at providing residents, students, businesses, and communities with access to the internet.
Governor Ademola Adeleke stated that Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity, adding that with this public digital infrastructure, “we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy.”
Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said the initiative was launched by the innovation, science, technology, and digital economy office under the office of the special adviser to the governor.
He said the Imole Wi-Fi is intended to facilitate digital access and increase opportunities across various sectors throughout the state.
Special Adviser to the governor, Mr. Azeez Badmus, said: “This is just the first step. As we expand Imole Wi-Fi, more government services and sector-specific tools will follow, ensuring that every resident benefits from Osun’s digital future.”

Badmus said the benefits of the free Wi-Fi will enable students to study online, join classes, and access research materials, while job seekers and small businesses can apply for opportunities and conduct business online.
Similarly, he said hospitals and clinics can utilize the free Wi-Fi for telemedicine and digital records, farmers can access weather forecasts, pricing updates, and agricultural information, just as communities can experience enhanced security through connectivity supporting emergency response and safety systems.
The Imole Wi-Fi initiative seeks to expand digital access and support education, employment, healthcare, and community safety throughout the state.
