Tension flared in Osun State as police officers reportedly arrested electoral officials overseeing the ongoing voter exercise, prompting outrage from the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC). Chairman Hashim Abioye condemned the arrests, calling on the authorities to allow the election process to proceed without interference.
Abioye praised voters for turning out to exercise their democratic rights but expressed frustration over the disruption. He revealed that OSSIEC was unable to provide accreditation materials on time because the police had sealed off the commission’s headquarters, preventing access to essential election materials.

The chairman further explained that delays in some polling units were caused by the police detaining officials responsible for transporting voting materials. However, he assured the public that new materials had been deployed and that voting was now in progress.
Despite the initial setbacks in the osun electoral exercise, the electoral atmosphere remains peaceful, with voters conducting themselves in an orderly manner. More updates to follow as the situation unfolds.
